Very cool Parker / Phinney Walker

A very neat desk set that came complete with a Parker Challenger (undated) and has the very sexy Phinney Walker 30hr clock with pullcord winding. The mount is made from red oak that has retained a lovely warm brown tone. It sports the original green baize felt bottom. The pen has 14k Parker nib, button filler, and has been fully restored.
The Phinney Walker clock some may recognize as an automobile clock, though the case is clearly original and designed for this deskset. I've had the clock professionally restored and now it keeps perfect time. The photo may not show it, but the clock is without any noticeble wear or damage...Another treasured junkshop find.
If anyone has any info on similar desksets, I'd appreciate it as I've been unable to pin down the year or even the maker.

This Art Deco inkwell is a new acquisition of mine. The Machine Age design of it is just wonderful! It looks like it could have come straight out of the movie "Metropolis. " Circa 1920's. It's made of a metal alloy...looks similar to pewter or silver plate. It has a wood bottom and is missing the glass insert for the well. Can those be replaced?

It appears unmarked, so I'm not sure of the designer. Anyone have any ideas who might have made it?

This 1936 Parker model BB desk set in black glass and chrome is a true art deco treasure with matching 1936 vacumatic lockdowns in silver stripe. Complete and original, this desk set is featured in Parker's 1936 catalogue retailing for the princely sum of $18.00 plus the pens. Special features include the "Sealomatic Socket" which not only tilts horizontally to prevent the pen from draining into the socket, but also has a snap in retainer that holds the pen in tight to prevent drying out. Both pens are made in Canada, 4th quarter, 1936 with original 14k nibs. This Deskset sits proudly on my 19c rosewood spinnet desk and is just outstanding enough to hold it's own. Traded an art deco Girard Perregaux wrist watch for it in a small antique shop. I use one of these pens daily, the other was professionally restored by Ron Zorn, and will likely remain uninked.

Made a fair deal for these pencils with box in decent condition. Like the box because it appears to have been printed in 1939 or earlier because of the logo.

Metal hat box salve dispensor?

Metal hat box salve dispensor? Metal hat box salve dispensor? Metal hat box salve dispensor? Metal hat box salve dispensor?

Found this in a $2 box at an auction. Mystery container. Shaped like a hat box, silver colored metal with brass trimming. Inside is a porcelain ointment pot (I believe). Bottom is serrated. I think it's to fill with water and put on the wood stove or heater to act as a double boiler to keep a salve or lotion warm. 2" high by 3" across by 2.5" deep. Why a hat box shape? Let me know what you think.

An early 1940's Eversharp Skyline has all the characteristics of the industrial design of it's age. Sleek and functional; the end is designed as a "telephone dialer". It posts well and writes with a lovely med-fine line with it's original 14k nib. I love everyting about this pen. It's truly a favorite!!

'The Bell Pen' post-war ballpoint, Cranleigh, UK 'The Bell Pen' post-war ballpoint, Cranleigh, UK 'The Bell Pen' post-war ballpoint, Cranleigh, UK

Hello all. I'm guessing there are many 'found this pen and want to know more about it' messages to this forum. Shamelessly, mine is another!

This is a ballpoint pen, given by my great-grandfather to my grandmother in 1947. I have posted pics at

http://www.richandcath.co.uk/BellPen/

It's got a black-painted metal body with brass clip, and is called a 'Bell' pen, made by C.B.projections (Engineering Ltd) Cranleigh, Surrey, just post-war. The link shows all the documentation wrapped around the pen. The pen stilll works!

I have 'googled' everything I can think of to find any references to the manufacturer or pen but drawn a blank- suggesting to me (perhaps naively) that there may not be many around.

Grateful for any light that anyone can shine on the pen or its heritage.

Cheers

Rich.

Vintage Inkstand

Vintage Inkstand Vintage Inkstand Vintage Inkstand Vintage Inkstand

I love this inkstand, but its provenance is a real mystery to me. There are no markings. There appears to be an eagle with a helmet atop its head and outstretched wings in the center. A floral or leafy motif as well as a Green Man type face with a winged helmet atop his head also appear on this piece.

At the same place, I found an antique Villeroy and Boch sugar bowl (made in Germany) and was amazed to see a face with wings atop its head on the bottom of the piece. So, I wonder if this inkstand could be German-made?
Any musings on this piece (or outright identification!) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking!
